Hey there,

I'm starting in a new direction.. purchasing a new battery for my Oly C-770 (one of those proprietory jobbies....the Li-10B) I was looking at the one available battery at one store and started to wonder if one brand is significantly better (i.e., stronger longer lasting) than other brands?

I figured I'd check in with you guys. Any input?

Thanks in advance for any and all info...

oops, I goofed in the title.. I guess all the 7s and 0s got me confused. C-770 is correct.. not that I really think it makes a difference,,,

http://www.batteryuniversity.com

I found this link on another thread. It's full of cool historical and easy to understand technical information. Great for homeschoolers! and everyone else even slightly interested in how things work...

See ya!

FYI, take a look at this thread:

http://stevesforums.com/forums/view_...=battery+price

Although the CIPA articles I referenced in the thread refer to counterfeit batteries, I have to wonder about the quality of a $3.00 battery which is supposed to be better than or as good as a $70 OEM battery. You might get lucky, but you could be courting disaster. Having the battery not work would be one thing, but if it fries a $400 camera, or blows up in your face...

Thanks Rinnie,

I was kind of hoping someone would know of a thread I just hadn't come accross and point me to it.

I appreciate the input. The battery I saw was closer to $30 than $3, but as I sat with it in my hand, I started to wonder just how different the different batteries could be..

Thanks for the link and your time...

How's $20 sound? Check here. (btw, it does make a difference, I believe the C-7070 uses a BLM-1 battery like my C-8080 does)

Yo Vlad,

Besides digging your 'name'...

Iwas referring to differences between brands as opposed to differences between types...

thanks, j:bye:

and as I stated above, I goofed.. it should have been for a C-770, not C-7070 (maybe that was wishful thinking or something:?).

I understood your post. The link I provided is for the C-770 battery off eBay, an official brand new Olympus one.

I don't know much about that specific battery, but I do know most of the BLM-1 off-brands are nearly as good, if not as good, as the real Olympus ones. Your battery is most likely the same way. That being said, getting a real Olympus battery for $20 leaves all other options in the dust.

Glad you like the name. :-)
