Hello Terry,

Your comments about loosing a good portion of their capacity within a month was true with the early generations of NiMh cells, however things have changed...

The current generation of NiMh cells have a much lower self discharge rate, and have a lot higher capacity to start with. The higher capacity means the effect of self discharge turns out to be not that big of a deal.

The current chemistry for NiMh cells will loose about 18% in 30 days, but it takes about 100 days to get down to 50%.

Now let's look at some numbers... An early 1800 mAh NiMh cell would loose over 30% in 30 days. That means that at the end of 30 days you end up with around 1260 mAh. Today, your 2600 mAh cell looses about 50% in 100 days, so you end up with 1300 mAh in 100 days. I think I can work with that...
