It says on the package they reach their optimum power after the first 2-3 charges. Has anyone noticed this?

Yes. Plus they may have to be charged and left to trickle charge for several hours to help "form" them for proper initial operation.

Hello BowerR64,

I usually figure it takes 3-5 cycles to get new cells up to a decent capacity. I believe Sanyo published some information indicating that the capacity of the cell will actually increase a small amount over the first 100 cycles. The largest increase comes in the first few cycles, but therecan bea small increase over a number of cycles following the "break in" period.
