Is it possible to use a Large capacity Li-ion battery and connect it through the adapter port of PowerShot A510 as an external battery.

Sure, just don't exceed 3.15V input voltage as indicated on the label on the bottom of the camera and make sure the polarity of the plug is right.

Hello Asim,

When I think of high capacity Li-Ion cells, I think of batteries similar to what is used in a notebook computer. Those batteries will not work for you.

Please pay close attention to what Steve has pointed out. Most Li-Ion batteries come off the charger at 4.2 volts, which is a lot more than the 3.15 volts your camera works with.

What battery pack were you considering?

You are right Tom, I was considering a laptop battery to power my camera during travel shoots, but as steve mentioned the battery must always be less than 3.15 volts which is impossible for a laptop battery to be. I think I have to consider some other option. Do you have something in mind?

Hello Asim,

It is supposed to work, however I don have an A510, so I can't tell you for sure.
