The day I bought my alpha I was thinking about buying a second battery for it but I kind of freaked out when I heared the price, about 65 US$ ... so I didn't. The sales guy told me there were no third party batteries available at the moment as it's a new battery etc...

Now today I went back to taipei and went into another store and surprise I found a battery made in Taiwan for almost halve price ... I bought one and a going to try it next couple of days ... will comment on it later

Please let us know more about this third party battery vs the original NP-FM55H .
Are you happy with it? I will be visiting Hong Kong and Taipei in November, can you
tell us what is this brand and where to buy it? Thank you for sharing.

Please be aware of the problems with many of these Chinese clone batteries, eBay is littered with them and there are lots of horror stories. You only need one spare battery, it is worth ruining your camera, voiding you warranty or maybe even starting a fire just to save $30?

They are assembled in Taiwan with Japan made Li-ion cells.
For now I'm happy, they have about the same energy cycle as the originals.

I've to dig up packing to get more information.
