While technically a backlighted subject the backlighting does not really dramatize the tree very well. Some sort of silhouetting or halo effect around the tree would certainly grab our attention. Please note the def provided indicates that the backlighting should create a dramatic effect. Aloha, Selvin |

Selvin, I didnt want a silhouet image with the tree as I wanted to capture the detail in the tree trunk. I think all three images I have posted fit the challange especialy when you compare them to some of the example pics that are in the link you provided in the "new challenge" thread. I hope people post more than just silhouets as we already had that as a challenge.

In my opinion, this shot is not back lit. The primary light source appears to either be directly overhead or in front of the subject (e.g. behind the camera). Although there is a bright sky in the background, it is not contributing significantly to the lighting of the subject.
