Spent the last two days on Martha's Vineyard, an Island off the coast of Massachusetts. Lots of beaches to go and try and take photos of birds. Here are a couple from this morning:

Good morning all,
Thanks. Yes, I'm having a lot of fun trying to get a good feel for what the D90 + 70-200mm f2.8 can do as well as the best settings - aperture, shutter speed, etc. Hi Mugmar, Yes, it did feel a bit like a scene from "The Birds" as we were walking along a Tern nesting area. As can be seen in the images, there were lots of terns around. We were fortunate that the little chicks had grown and were flying. Otherwise, the adults would have been less than friendly. As it was, the Terns at times were less than 10ft away from us and would be barely above my head. Zig

Thanks. Your comments are always appreciated. I have to admit that, in many ways, it was a good thing that I started taking bird in flight images using the E30. The weaker AF system forced me to understand the importance of ideal camera settings and develop disciplines on how to hold a camera, pan, and keep the focus point trained steadily on the subject so as to minimize losing focus or creating blur. So, I have that to be thankful for. The D90's AF system makes it all fairly straightforward by comparison. Zig
