Birds, birds, birds.
Once again we have spent the coldest days of winter tramping the Wollomombi Gorge at sunrise, delighting in the incredible vocalisations and displays of the male Superb Lyrebirds. I have not yet put together a composite package of our pics for the Wildlife forum, but thought these three might adequately meet the Challenge here. #1 Display ![]() #2 Foraging for grubs, worms & insects ![]() ![]() # Singing for his supper ![]() ![]() Cheers Bernice

If that cleared area is his lek (displaying arena), I am surprised how small it is.

What a neat bird! I wonder if it's related to the peacock...

G'day Bernice
Well done & great capture in obviously difficult lighting conditions Would you accept (below) as a qwik WB fix to the #3 image - showing lots of blue from the shady area ![]() Regards, Phil

Thank you very much Mugmar, wave01, vsch1, penolta, mtngal, J'bug & Phil. glad you like them.
J'bug no they're no relation to any other bird, being endemic to the eastern 'edge' of Australia - the eastern fall of the Great Dividing Range and associated coastal plains. Quote:
![]() Phil, I can't get a good look at your 'fix', it's pixelated. Could be this computer - I'll check it out on my work computer tomorrow. That one was taken in very foggy conditions and came out with that eery-blue cast. I'll be interested to see and hear how you sorted it. Thanks Bernice

Aha — can see it today Phil. Hmmm, so what did you do to reduce the blue? All help appreciated!
Bernice
