Hi all,
This morning I DID go back inside after I ventured out on the balcony to head towards my car on the way to work. The clouds were just lovely (imho) and I thought... it's definitely worth the 5 extra minutes to take the photos ... and share tonight (now) on Steve's forums. Hope you appreciate this photo - if not for it's aesthetics, at least I was thinking of you all this morning on the way to work!! Taken with my Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm... where it's tack sharp! Regards and have a blessed Easter everyone, Paul |

All I can say is Stunning! That is one of the most beautiful and sharp sky shots I've ever seen.

Hi Cal,
Thanks for appreciating the sharpness of the shot. I'm glad my lens seems at its best at the 10mm setting... where the dramatic perspective one can obtain is awesome. That's the equivalent of 16mm in 35mm format, as my camera is a Canon 350D (Rebel XT). ---------------- Dave, I'm thankful you like the photo too. The clouds had a lovely balance of grey and white caught by the rising sun... ---------------- Bob, Thanks for your Easter wishes and kind comments. The deep blue sky of the morning made a good background, so I'm glad I went back to take this photo.. Paul |

Nice shot, Paul. I really like the gradient created by the levels of blue in the background. It provides such a nice contrast and the levels differential pulls your eyes through the scene.

Yes I think you hit upon one of the factors why this photo works well... those blue gradients in the sky. I purposefully also placed the lightest part of the blue (the sky closest to the rising sun) in the bottom, central part of the frame... so that the sky smoothly went from light blue through to the darker and different hues of blue at the top and corners of the frame. On this gradient of blue background those clouds stand out nicely I believe. Thanks for appreciating it. Paul |
