These photos where taken yesterday evening. This piece of sky is the flight path for the United Parcel Service hub in Louisville, KY. You can see two recent and well defined contrails crossing behind the streetlamp. All of the "clouds" from there upward are older contrails . The second shot is a fresh contrail being made only moments before. Saturation and contrast boosted in camera.

The first shot is beautiful. It looks as if the contrail pattern in the sky is broken up by another closer contrail going from top left to lower right. That may not be a contrail but it sorta looks like one to me.
Regarding the second one, fairly ordinary. I guess contrails are technically clouds made by men and their flying machines. I saw a TV program on one of those "science" channels a couple months ago discussing the theory that in some parts of the country, jet aviation fuel was being spiked with some chemical to be dispersed in the contrail. However, I don't recall the alleged purpose. It either had to do with altering the weather or global warming. The government denies any such activities but they deny everything when confronted! Cal |
