How appropriate that you chose this new challenge, Vanessa.
You probably know just where this is: ![]()

Hmmm, my guess would be along 6A? Love the green vine against the blue barn door.

It's actually on Millway, the road off of 6A leading to Barnstable Harbor.

What a pretty, picture perfect door! What is this place? Is it a house with an owner that decorated with a pretty hat??

The straw hat hangs on the door of a barn behind the main house. There is a fairly interesting story about the straw hat. It is one of the most photographed icons in the town of Barnstable. Each spring, for more than 20years, it's owner hung up the hat with a new bow on the door. It has even been featured on a Boston Television program by the name of Chronicle. But, I didn't know any of that when I took the photo back in 2009. I just liked it and so I took a photo of it. Shortly after I took the photo, the hat never appeared on the door again. Then last year, there it was again. The next day, I went over and knocked on the door. I had a 11 x 14 matted photograph of the straw hat in hand. My intention was to give it to the owner-if she would like to have it. I introduced myself to the woman who answered the door, showed her the photograph and the reason I came by. she smiled, invited me in and began showing me countless photographs that other people had taken, over the years. She looked at my photo and told me exactly when I had taken the photo. It was just shortly before her mother had passed away. You see, her mother was the one who owned the hat and each spring put a new bow on it. When her mom passed away, she decided it was time to take the hat down. After almost 3 years, she decided in honor of her mom she would carry on the tradition. So, I'm waiting for this spring to once again, see the straw hat on the barn door only with a new ribbon on it. By the way, this is the original that I gave her: ![]() Zig

Very touching story. Your initial shot with the window is personally more appealing to me.

Thank you. As for preferences, the good news for the owner is that she has about a hundred different photos to choose from. ![]() For me, as mentioned, I took the image about 3 years ago, my perspective on what constitutes a good image(to me) has changed considerably. Zig

Ahhh yes, I've heard of the hat, but your personal story really adds to the image. Thanks for sharing that.
