This is a shot of some glass/ceramic insulators on a high voltage transmission tower.

Scanned 35mm negative.

What a clever idea. You see those towers of power everywhere! Who would have though to photograph one. Very abstract and geometric. Good job.

I see we're both Beavertonians! We'll have to swap howdies someday.

One of my first summer jobs as a college student was to polish these ceramic/glass insulators as they came off the production line. Obviously this didn't require a college degree. My co-workers were for the most part fellas with very little education and many were contented with these unskilled jobs. I actually recall that period with some fondness.

We polished those suckers day in day out till you could eat off them. many of them were destined for the Vietnam war effort.

They looks almost like jewelry strung from the lines.

I know these are large, but in this photo they almost look like miniatures.
