Haven't had much time to come check things out this week. Nor, to take photos for that matter. Hoping after tomorrow night I'll have some time.
I came home tonight to find my yard covered in lightening bugs. I don't know if it will qualify for the challenge or not. But, it'd still be cool to try to capture. But, how do I photograph them? Is it like trying to photograph lightening? Set up on a tripod and just keep snapping hoping to get something? What settings? A slower shutter speed to give more opportunities to catch? Thanks for any input on this. Patty |

Just open the lens and, using a tripod, give it a 2 second exposure and see what you get. Just my suggestion and you have every right to call me a goof if it doesnt work.

Lightning bugs use a chemical process to create their "light shows" I don't think there is any electricity involved.

Patty,
I found this on another site just in the last couple of days. It might be helpful: http://digital-photography-school.co...989#post212989 |

Whether it fits the challenge or not, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet. And, won't tonight either. Maybe soon.
If anything comes out, vsch1, I'll post. Cal, it won't be for the challenge. Unless I could get some electrical lines in the background :-) Patty |
