I returned this morning to rephotograph some tree images I posted in Steve's 'Landscape Photos' in May, because the sun was shining at last, but not on the subject, sadly.
This bearded elderly gentleman, seen in profile, wearing a Russian, possibly Cossack, tall black hat might have been either a fellow victim with the chap I posted earlier with the barbed wire, inside thewire of the Gulag, or else maybe a guard there. He's not very happy about it, anyway. |

Here he is in context. He appears to have a small cow on his shoulders somehow, but I can see several other strange faces.
All these tree-persons are clearly 'Ents', as featured in J.R.R.Tolkein's 'Lord of the Rings' novels, and the spinoff movie series. I posted more pictures and explanation of 'Ents' at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=591402&forum_id=8&jump_t o=890306#p890306 et seq. in May. Some of them were taken at Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire, birthplace of negative-positive photography. |

Great "face" picture. It's a wonder that poor tree has survived this long.

I was thinking "treebeard" when I saw the first shot! Those old trees have such personality

What a fantastic find. The texture on that tree has such great character in more ways than one.

I see so many faces (or skulls) in that one, it's scary. Would hate to run into that tree at night. I'd expect it's feet to come out and it to start running after me.

Wonderful faces. I wonder how that tree is still alive and upright. Fromt eh second picture, it looks like the whole bottom has rotted out.
