BIRD vs. FISH: The bird won.
This is a series oh photos. I got really lucky when I captured this. This is totally in the wild. I was vacationing in Florida, and this was in the everglades. We were just walking along, and I focused on this bird to take a normal bird photo... but all of a sudden it flew into the water 5 feet in front of me and came out with a fish. Needless to say, I was snapping photos at 6fps, lol. I wish the water wasn't so murky, and it was in better focus. But, as a moment that is not captured too often in the wild, I was happy just to see it happen! Here you go: 1. ![]() 2. ![]() 3. ![]() 4. ![]() 5. ![]() 6. (The asphalt was the path we were walking along, along the water.) ![]() 7. ![]() 8. ![]() 9. ![]()

He spent a good 5 minutes tossing and coating the fish in mud and grass before he took the big gulp... I guess it adds a little flavor?!?
10. ![]() 11. ![]() 12. I had my 70-200 on my camera at the time, and the bird was only 4-5 feet in front of me, so a lot of the crops are less than desirable, lol. ![]() 13. ![]()

A very nice, but un-appetizing, series. Thanks for sharing.

Impressive, horrifying series. Living creatures eating leaving creatures. That's the Nature's procedure. Accept it or die.

Very nice series! That's quite a good sized fish (catfish?) for the cormorant (?) to be handling, though I guess that's not unusual. I didn't know that about the treatment they give their lunch, guess he's trying to eat a balanced meal.

haha, thanks for all the comments everyone!
It was a pretty surreal experience while it was happening, and afterwards a park ranger came by and we told her what happened. she said she'd never seen that happen before right in front of people. It was pretty disgusting, lol.

Great series. The cormorants around here are very, very shy. It's hard just to get a shot of one. It's always a good feeling after capturing a hard to get shot like that.
