Default Flora

I am not sure what this is. I think it is some sort of fungi that is growing on a Redwood tree up in Stout Grove of Redwood National Park. It was shot sometime back. I found it intriguing.

The other thing about this shot is scale. The fungus is about more than 6 or 8 feet from top to bottom and 1 to 3 feet across. That is a Redwood tree trunk and it is easily 6 feet plus across.

Scale can at times be hard to show, that may be a good challange, different ways of showing scale.

Fungi is one of those life forms that is neither plant nor animal. Therefore, I wonder if it fits the flora or fauna categories.

Regardless of the trivia, this is a spectacular shot.
