Give Us Your Favourites - Landscape & Self

Hello All

It's hard for me to pick one single favourite photo from 2010, however I think this is one of them.

This photo was taken in November 2010, when I went on a short a camping trip to 'have a break from the city and work'. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in nature (it was spring here in Australia, but a cooler day and coastal area).

Due to the challenge of getting the exposure right (sinking sun, and landscape), it's actually a HDR. I set my 7D on my tripod, used timer to record the 3 photos at different exposures and blended them together using Photomatix.

I also wanted to be sure it looked natural, i.e. me really watching the sun set, so I had to think about the best angles and composition. I'm pleased with the result.

Great shot, Paul. The scenery here is somewhat similar to the Pacific coast in northwest Oregon. Lots of sand and scrub.

I'm a sucker for sunsets and this one doesn't disappoint. Lovely work. Aloha

@Cal - many thanks for your kind comments. That's interesting to hear that you have similar coastal scenes there in NW Oregon. How far from the equator are you? My photo taken at about 35/36 degrees (south). One of the 'moister' coastal parts of South Australia.

@Selvin - yeah, I know the feeling about loving sunsets. You must have many great sunset opportunities, there right!?! Glad my photo meets your approval!

Paul
