I wanted to do a black coffee mug against a black background, but others beat me to it, so I tried something a little different this morning....shooting black coffee as it goes into a black coffee mug against a black background. Because of the design of my coffee maker, I had to shoot this one off a tripod with the flash held to the left with a strong diffuser. The coffeemaker is one which fills individual cups when you push a lever.
Shot with Pentax K20d, Sigma 18-50 lens @ 20mm, f/8.0, ISO 1600 with +0.7 EV, Pentax AF540 FGZ flash set on manual at 1/8 power with fabric diffuser. (I know the ISO and EV settings are crazy....sometimes my memory loss sets in and I forget to check them.) Post processing was minimal...darkened background slightly and removed a couple of distracting reflections. Paul |

I just came in from the cold and after seeing these I'm fixing another pot myself! Nice Paul!

I can almost smell it. The tighter crop works for me.

Paul,
Love the first rendition. When I first saw it without reading your commentary I thought it was a Coke being poured. Funny how your mind works since I'm not a coffee drinker. Aloha |
