The challenge here was to show some detail in the white branches against the nearly-white foggy sky. I took 25 images, first in nightclothes plus woolly hat and dressing gown (and hypothermic by the end), from the corner of our garden, and then 3 hrs later from across the road, with various framingoptions and bracketed in various ways.
In the end, as might have been predicted in this 'high key' task, the one shown here is the most 'overexposed' of the lot, according to centre-weighted metering... Model: KODAK EASYSHARE Z1012 IS Digital Camera Date taken: 01 January 2009 12:00:49 (New Year's Day, so still felt like early morning!) Exposure program: Aperture priority Exposure mode: Manual Exposure bias [EV]: 1.33 35mm focal length [mm]: 109 ISO value: 100 Shutter speed [s]: 1/161 Aperture: F3.6 I thought I might get a better result by under-exposing a little and post-processing, but it didn't turn out that way. |

Yes, Alan, that's my understanding of "high key". Nice!

I like this picture. It reminds me of what our landscape looked like a couple of weeks ago after an ice storm.

Its a pleasure to see another day in the life of the field across the street. Interesting appearance of the white on the trees. Nice capture Alan.

Very nice, Alan. It's lovely. I see you found another way to get rid of your hated power lines, too.
