Holiday Lights

Our neighbour tossed a few tokenlights over the tree in his front yard and it ended up looking great. A chance for me to use my new tripod:-)

That is a nice capture Steve. The lighting on the branches is very subtle and you captured it nicely. Now I have a question. Who are the 18 bozos who took the time to come in and gawk at the photo but were too damn lazy to say anything. Id sure like to know who they were. Sometimes there are so many comments left that if its all been said then no reason to keep repeating it. But here we have 18 people who have come and gone and not a single comment.

Bynx, comments are always encouraged but not required. I am sure that there are a lot of people who are not regular participants in this forum who stop by to see what's happening. How many times have you scanned through other forums on this site without making comments? I bet it's more times than you think.

Yes I agree with you Cal. However, I think its common courtesy to leave a comment if you are one of the very few first to view. Yes, comments are not required, but they are always appreciated. Only one or two of those 18 people could have said I like it or I dont like it. Anyone is capable of that much after the effort that the photographer took to get that photo for them to see. Once a few comments are made then repetition isnt necessary. It happens so often here I just wonder who these people are that are the first to go through peoples files like thieves in the night and leave without a word. Are they in fact people or is it Googles bots that are doing it? It is seldon if ever that someones entry gets no visitors at all. So its possible it is a Googlebot and/or a Yahoobot. Hopefully though, some of those people will read this and think twice next time they just look and leave.

Bynx, my friend, this is a domestically hard-worked and (arguably the most) stressful time of year, and folk may well take a break from family chores & support to relax by taking a quick look at what their pals on 'Steve's Digicams' are doing, but not feel able to participate right now. I am frequently one of those, in several different forums.

At the best of times, I only comment when I have something specific and additional to say. Can you imagine how long this forum would take to load if even half of those viewing the messages responded to them?

It's often to do with the time of day you post in the many different time zones round the world, and, I suspect, people looking only at 'recent' posts. As I write this it's 04:50 GMT. That's when I get time to myself, with no domestic demands. It does however, conflict violently witha need to sleep sometimes.

So, frankly,I don't think there's really a lot to complain about here in this vibrant and inclusive forum at present. People do their own thing, in their own time.
