I took this at 10am on 15th November, about the same time as I shot one of my accursed power poles across the road as a "T", and the Village Church as a "W" for our 'Letters' challenge. It was our first ground frost of the year, and quite took me by surprise. Our kitchen table often looks like that when my son spills the rock salt while filling the salt & pepper mills.
There's another frosty one from 'Natural Letters' that morning at... http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=85 |

...and here's a rather different ice structure, grown from the liquid phase rather than vapour as in the crystal shot.
It's my son in February 2004 aged 13. He's the same height as me now which is at least 6 inches shorter than many of his giant friends. Even then, with him armed like that, I was relieved to get his photographic cooperation. |

Alan,
Great submissions. The icicle in your son's hands is imposing. Looking forward toyour newest submissions. Aloha |

Alan,
That first shot is very ![]() The second shot reminds me of my younger days out playing around some ice bluffs and knocking the ice off, and this huge chuck of ice comes down and almost broke my arm!!! Mugmar |

Superb shots. In the first one, the ice crystals do look like rock salt or sugar crystals. Nice capture.
In the second shot, your son is holding (a bit of trivia, here) the only weapon that can kill a man and leave no evidence behind. Great shot of a well formed icicle. Cal |

These are both really nice shots. You managed to capture the texture of the frost very well in your first shot.
