Infrared - Kaaawa Sunrise

Sunrise at the Kaaawa (Oahu, Hawaii) shoreline. Conversion to infrared in PSE. Cheated - still 11:00 pm in Hawaii

I don't understand the reference to 11 PM. Now that I've seen a couple of PSE infrared conversions and my own in PSPP, these conversions appear to be simply gray scale conversions. Conversions of actual IR images to BW are much more brilliant. I need to play with the settings for the IR filter in PSPP (Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3) to see if I can make it do a better emulation.

This is a beautiful scene, both in color and BW. Is it possible to take a bad photo in Hawaii?!!

calr, start date was May 19 - I actually posted at night of the 18th. You are correct about gray scale conversion - I was playing around with B&W, saw the IR and tried it (and others). Thanks for the comment about Hawaii. Yes I take a lot of bad stuff, check my trash bin, lol!

To do my fake Infrared it was involved and consisted of 4 or more layers. I didnt see an IR anywhere in my Photoshop. Where is it located? It seems to be nothing more than switching to a grayscale.

It is not a true IR. In PSE 7, press "enhance", "convert to black & white", and a menu of styles (one being infrared effect) with sliders to adjust red, green, blue, and contrast pops up. Adjustments can be made with the sliders. I don't know what it would have looked like in "true" IR but I adjusted to my liking.
