That is a scary looking tree!
How did I pip you last night?

onlooker Jun 17, 2010 7:42 PM

Yes, and it was taken at almost three o'clock in the afternoon - dull stormy weather.
My 'Bare black branches' title echoed your 'Big black bear' title, but not by design.

Nice shot. I realy like the long droopy branches on that tree (weeping willow?)

Cool shot! I think that tree may come from Mordor.

Yes tickamidnight it is a weeping willow. From wikipaedia:

" A small number of willow species were widely planted in Australia, notably as erosion control measures along watercourses. They are now regarded as an invasive weed and many catchment management authorities are removing them to be replaced with native trees."

Recent research has shown that willows suck up an inordinate amount of water.

Nope, not that one mike_1. It's just across the road on the creek bank.

Bernice,
The black adds so much spookiness along with the drooping branches, great!
Aloha
