I was looking directly up at the chandelier. It is located in one of the legislative chambers of the Kansas Capitol Building.
The drifts--ah the drifts--I wanted to get a sight line at direct ground level to attempt to capture the almost surf like sculpture they presented. I waded into the ditch to get parallel to them. So far, so good. Then I began squatting to get to their level. BIG MISTAKE! My knee is, shall we say, a little weak, and it just collapsed and I ended up sitting half buried in the snow. I kept my camera out of the wetness; and decided since I was now in the perfect shooting position I might as well take advantage and snapped away. But it was NOT pleasant figuring out how to get back to my feet while keeping my camera out of the snow. I'm sure I looked like a wounded animal struggling to upright itself. I finally made it, but I am grateful that there are no videos of that debacle. The camera and I survived and I got some good shots! |

I've always had a tough time getting a good exposure when snow's involved - you've managed to grasp perfect depth in the drifts! I miss the snow we grew up with in northern Minnesota...alas, I think we only got an inch this winter in Delaware.

This winter he only had 2 little piddly snows here--both less than 2 inches, didn't amount to much. Our spring is at least 3 weeks early! Tons of flowering trees and regular flowers in full bloom, trees already leafing out, etc. It was over 80 degrees at least twice last week!

Love the snow drifts! That shot is just awesome, especially since I spent the day today shooting snow in trees, snow plows, snow falling, snow covering my car, rabbit tracks in the snow etc. You might have an early spring - today was our winter.

You've managed to make snow look beautiful to this tropical boy!
There must be a name for fear of those lighting globes to come crashing down on you. Great shot. Selvin |

Love the snow drifts. So sorry you had a tough time getting the shot, but I think it was worth it..... at least to this viewer.
