Hi Friends
Here is a photo of the setting evening sun here in South Australia. Though it's winter and the typical winter days here are 'partly overcast' and definitely much wetter than summer (we have a Meditteranean climate), thankfully we still enjoy an average of about 5 hours of sunlight per day for the 'darkest' months (June and July). Some days are clear from morning to evening, while other days (like this day) have intermittent sunny breaks during the day scattered with clouds / cloudy times. And of course finally some days are just 'grey' the whole day. It does make for quite interesting photography, to be able to have this variety in winter. ![]() Often I like making landscape photos in the portrait orientation... it can emphasise a particular perspective or the lead in lines (as in this photo). I also found the golden colour of the sand of the beach contrasting nicely with the partly blue sky / grey clouds. And capturing the rainbow crescent was the icing on the cake! Your comments are appreciated. ![]() Paul |

They say you can't improve on the real thing but I think you've come pretty close.
That rainbow! -- you're right it's the kicker... Aloha |

The footprints in the sand look like they are heading right for the end of the rainbow.

Spectacularly lovely. The sand is almost glowing, the water is luminous, and oh that rainbow. Deserves a framed place of honor.

Wonderful shot! The rainbow is awesome but its icing on the cake, the golden light really sets this picture apart from the normal rainbow picture. Really like it.

Thanks all for your most kind comments and generous compliments!
I'm very thankful to have captured this as and when I did. There seem to have been more rainbows this winter then I can ever remember in my last 4 winters here in South Australia! I hadn't thought (or planned) about the footprints, but yes... maybe another time (if??) - I can make some footprints somewhat more featured in the photo heading closer from the viewer to the horizon/ rainbow's end. Cheers and thanks again. Paul |
