This is golden hour here at the Poppy fields in Lancaster, Califnoria. The flowers don't open until the sun is up, warm and before the wind kicks up.

Hey, Calicajun, we might have been standing near each other -- as my wife and I were there on Saturday. Here she is with our 2 dogs. Quite a spectacular setting, eh. I tried some shots from atop the hill in the poppy preserve, but the wind was blowing 40-45 MPH, and gusting at over 50 MPH. Could hardly keep the tripod and camera from blowing out of my grasp.

Well we weren't far apart from each other, though I we were outside of the preserve on the off road trails.

I've never seen anything like that! Just beautiful. I like how you captured the photographer and helper.
Walter, another nice shot of your wife and pups...always enjoy those. |

Calicajun, your shot is almost overpowering! I have seen fields of golden poppies before and that is truly a sight to behold. But then enhancing the orange color of the flowers with the golden light of the sun is almost too much to handle. The photo actually looks oversaturated but I don't think that is the case.
Walter, I thought I recognized the subjects (lady and dogs) in your photo. Very nice. Cal |

Thanks Calr,
Don't think I add any saturation to the flower, did cheat a little on the blue sky. ![]() ![]() |
