Hi friends
Ha ha... I was very glad to catch the exact moment of this photo as I was specifically hoping that I would capture a real "quack" for the challenge. "Quack" is perhaps one of the famous animal sounds many children learn from a young age. Yesterday, I was at a nature area, near to my home in Adelaide, South Australia - yesterday - and there are usually ducks in the lake. Some other people were there, I think feeding some small scraps of bread to the ducks. This is right at the moment when a "quack" came from this duck's beak! :-) It was also reasonably close, so I was glad about that. I hope that the photo conveys the sounds well and you enjoy viewing! Cheers, Paul Last edited by pj1974; Jul 25, 2010 at 5:42 AM. Reason: forgot title |

Great timing! I like this image. The colors, reflection and the gentle swirl in the water.

Nice reflections but the quack could be easily mistaken for swallowing a fish. Hope I'm not being too harsh.

@vsch1 - thanks for your comments and I'm glad you like the water swirl. Maybe the water reflection / swirl takes away from the open beak... hard to decide for me. If only I had 2 photos to compare (with and without swirl / reflection).
@ thkn777 - Glad you got the 'quack' too! Cheers. I've never caught a quack this good before. @ selvin - I appreciate your post also. Be assured this duck was quacking (not swallowing a fish). Don't worry, not too harsh (yet!) lol. It was actually quacking because it saw other ducks get to some bread that was thrown in the water. (I guess that 'quack' meant - 'hey, I missed out'!) I like how the water drop at the end of it's beak was dropping off when it said "quack". Paul |
