Two more, the first is the crop duster turning into the afternoon sun and the second is one of our local doctors toys. I love the P51 more than any other prop plane ever made.

Great shots. Were you in the air for the first?

Thank you all very much! Yesterday, I was on the ground using my new 70-300 vr for the shot. Mugmar I will see what I can do about getting the Mustang in flight, I live about 5 miles from the airport.

Beautiful shots. That is one beautiful P51. As I recall, the P51 engine is water cooled. There should be a scoop under the fuselage that can be used to take on water by skimming the surface of a lake or river. I don't know if all P51's had this feature. I can't see it on this one.

Yes Cal, the Rolls-Royce Merlin Engine was liquid cooled but the belly scoop radiator fairing was for housing the ethylene-glycol/water and oil cooling radiators. It's hard to see, but that bulge just under the star behind the wing is the radiator fairing.
