This one is from the recent archives. But it is still one of my favorite things. It makes me laugh every time I see it.
Can you guess what it is? ![]() |

Let me guess--a radio controlled car with lights at night. Or...a handicapped parking space with glow-in-the-dark stripes.
How's that for a couple of WILD guesses? I have no idea what it is. Cal |

Your first guess is close Cal. But it's not remote controlled.
It's smarter than that. |

Is that one of those edge/obstacle sensing toy robot cars?

Close. It's is a robot. It's one of my Roombas. It's a robotic vacuum. That's about a 2 minute exposure I think. It started it up one night, put the camera on the tripod and let it go to see what I would get.
The big yellow trails are the power button. The green trails are the clean button. The blue trails are the dirt sensor LED. That comes on when it senses an extra dirty spot and it spins around there to clean an extra little bit. If that dog of yours sheds as much as mine does Cal you'd like one of these.... |

I am amazed at what you found as another use for your Roomba.
You're clearly marching to another drummer here. Aloha |

The shoot was actually practice for something else. I was wanting to get some shots of fireflys. Someone else here had mentioned doing that. I thought this guy's lights would be about the same color and I could control it just a little more than the fireflys.
Thanks for looking! Cecil |

Interesting pattern. It looks like the outline of a star constellation.
