With all the hooplah surrounding the start of school, I haven't had the time to visit the forum and almost missed out on this Shoot Out. So many things I could cite, but definitely one of my favorite things is photographing birds, particularly large ones like this great egret that had just snagged a fish at the local fish hatchery.
![]() The only problem with the fish hatchery is that, with its 20 or so ponds, there are no trees or other cover. Thus, you can't stalk and get as close as you'd like. But, once in a while, one of the birds will get curious about you, like this little green heron. ![]() Paul |

Very nice action shot of the egret. It looks as if the Green heron is doing his best imitation of a tree:-)

Nice shots, Paul. If you like to shoot a lot around the hatchery, it might pay to invest in some kind of portable blind or a long lens.
