Over the weekend, over 70 'tall ships' gathered in Liverpool docks for the annual Tall Ships Race, crossing the start line off N.Ireland this morning, sailing to Maloy in Norway, and finishing in the Netherlandsin about a month'stime. They attracted hundreds of thousands of folk from far & wide. The race was last in Liverpool in the 1990s.
I went by train to New Brighton at the mouth of the Mersey yesterday afternoon to watch them leave. One or two (tens of thousands) got there before me. They waited patiently as the ships motored out against a stiff headwind. |

This (taken specially for the challenge) shows three of the more astute Scousers and Merseysiders, who retreated (like me) onto a comfortablegrassy bank in a public park for a wider and better viewpoint.
I've posted a picture of a couple of the ships in a discussion in the Kodak forum at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...907171#p907171. I'll put more up later, elsewhere. |

Hahar! i feel so lucky to have snagged a spot at the fort, the brown building directly in frontin your first shot. I also feel so let down by the batttery life of the CRV-3 non rechargeable. Thank goodness ive got my new ones now
![]() Very nice shots, i love the way the crowd swoops around the corner in your first shot, and the second shot is wonderful also, great contrast between the two, chaos and peacefulness! - Sim |
