I was having a very hard time with this since some other people were using some ideas that I had thouth of using. So while preparing to grill, I thought to myself: Self? People always ake pictures of grills from the top. I wonder what the soot at the bottom of the grill would be looking at. So here is what soot would be looking at if it could look up out of the grill:

First off, none of us should think that, just because it's been done before, it shouldn't or can't be done again. This kind of thinking will immediately lead to never taking another picture in all the rest of life.

Climbing down from the podium now...

You used an angle you'd never have thought to use before, and you chose a situation that isn't necessarily the easiest to photograph: looking from a dark place out into the light. You metered and succeeded very well.

And who, may I ask, is peering down into the soot?

Barbara: I just did not want to do what someone else had done for the challenge. The very handsome guy gazing down is me.

Another great idea. I'm no critic of techinique but GREAT idea.....and I agree, to heck with any thoughts on submitting similar ideas.....The last few weeks I haven't had time to go out specifically for the challenges but either lucked out and had something recent or dug into the archives for older material.....I rather admire the creative effort thought that goes into this kind of approach and end result....
