No, this does not refer to a strategy in the card game of hearts where one tries to capture all the heart tricks. This challenge is about shooting photos of our nearest neighbor in space--the moon.

Your task is to photograph the moon either in high detail if you have a good enough lens for the job or to capture different phases of the moon in natural landscape settings--you know, those romantic moonlight settings. Another possibility is photos of a lunar eclipse. There is not one scheduled for the next two weeks but if you have any eclipse shots, especially a series of shots showing the progression of the eclipse, show them to us. I will raise the limit on number of photos per posting to ten for eclipse sequences only but keep the image size small (e.g. 400x600).

The full moon is a great subject but "Houston, we have a problem" The next full moon is June 18th, the day after this challenge ends! I encourage everyone to go outside on that day and if the weather permits, "shoot the full moon". I will allow late postings to this challenge for a few days after it officially ends, but the next challenge will go ahead as scheduled.

Now, go outside and do some "mooning", er I mean shooting the moon. Please put "Shooting the Moon" in your subject line and remember to post your photos in new postings, not as replies to this one. If you haven't read the forum guidelines for awhile, I recommend doing so.

This challenge was suggested by Chrisg19. Chris hasn't been around for quite awhile but if someone knows him, let him know what we're up to. Thanks.
