Pardon my ignorance, but which is which. Is the top pic what it was like or how it is now? Or is the bottom the new permanent configuration of the land mass? It really hits home how fragile it is when you live on such a small piece of dirt surrounded by so much water.

The first pic is what it was like, the second is after the tital wave. It sounds like you have not heard about this wave that killed 100,000's of thousands of people in asia!!! Amazing! it happened Dec 28, just after xmas in 2004.

Ive certainly heard about the wave. What I wonder is if the second picture is now the permanent configuration of the island. Is the missing land permanently underwater or did things go back to 'normal' after the wave receeded? Us expiring minds want to know.

Those are spectacular shots. I, also would like to know the answere to the questions posed. This shot doesn't meet Selvins ten-year guideline between then and now but I can overlook it if he can.
