I love these photos, Walter. The colors, sharpness, and composition are great.
A few years ago, I got a chance to see one of those steam pumpers at work. I had always thought that somehow that boiler was used to shoot out hot water under pressure. I was surprised to see that the steam from the boiler is used to operate a piston similar to a steam locomotive. The piston drives a water pump and pumps COLD water! Cal |

Walter,
I didn't even knowrestaurants with curside servicestill existed. In Hawaii. several restaurants with the name drive-thru or drivein still exist but no curbside service. Like Cal, the old pumper caught my eye. Wonderful condition. Great shots, thanks for sharing. |

Selvin, there is a new chain of drive-in (not sit-down) restaurants that is growing rapidly on the mainland called Sonic. I don't think they have reached Hawaii, yet. Sonic has only car service, no indoor seating.

Thanks Cal. |

Maybe Walter could tell us a little more about the first picture.
To my eye this is without a doubt a show car, and the tray of food is a display. Look at the condition of the body, paint, chrome and interior. If I had to offer a guess I would say that this car is a Ford Edsel, and a nice one too. |

You're right on all counts, Hagar. A beatiful example of the Edsel automobile. I actually thought it was a beautiful car...but the buying public didn't agree with me.
