The banner of Clan MacNeil flies over their ancient (some say 1190, some say 1427) seat of Kisimul Castle, Castlebay, Isle of Barra, Outer Hebrides.

My son, aged 13 at the time in March 2005, looks pleased with himself at taking the helm (tiller?), to the alarm of the other passengers.
The full-size clip is the best I can do for the flag itself, which once represented an extensive kingdom ruled and defended by means of war galleysdepicted atthe bottom right on the yellow bit of flag. The blue flag carries the modern 'Historic Scotland' corporate logo. This is the island of thefilm 'Whisky Galore', though the real events of the 1940s took place on the nearby island of Eriskay. MacNeils come as tourists from all over the world, especially N.America. (Still looking for a scenic saltire on a jackstaff.) |

Nice shot of the castle. To bad the parking lot is in the way on the first one.
