Like the second, good lines. Good lack of pedestrians...oh, the peace.

Were you flat on your tummy shooting #1? Nicely done.

Beautiful isolation of the subject to emphasize the effect in the first shot.
It took me a second or two to finally get the second shot but I 'm impressed by the out of the box thinking. Aloha |

Walter, the camera was sitting on the ground (bricks), I used live view to line up the shot - left the tripod at home. I don't use live view very much, but it comes in handy once in a while. Also I got lucky with the person coming down the stairs, 6 - 6:30 am isn't a time when many are around and I was expecting to take some shots of empty steps.
I've always liked the staircase in the second picture, but have found it difficult to photograph. I thought this time (done just after 7 am) it worked better, and the "sidewalk closed" sign put it well within the challenge subject. |

The 2nd shot really has a lot going on if you break down the components of stairs, ramp etc.
Well done

Hmmm - maybe my problem with the second staircase is that there's too much going on. I may have to re-think the way I've photographed it, to try to simplify it - try to capture one aspect or another that interests me.
