Happened to stop by a local park in southern Florida and some folks were hooked up to a device that eliminates the need for speed boats and allows a whole host of water actvities that include water skiing, waterboarding, etc.

They seemed to be having a lot of fun. Sony AlphaA100, Tamron 18-250mm telephoto @250mm, 1/500 second, F9, ISO100. Minor tweaking to lighten shadows and crop unwanted background.

Great photo, Selvin.

You certainly captured some good air time there!

I think your camera and lens did a great job in a fast moving sports (last summer here in Australia I did a lot of kitesurfing photos, including some which were published, so I appreciate the challenge!)

I had to laugh at the bit "exit" sign in the background... makes me realise he did "exit the water" just as instructed! :-)

Thanks for sharing (and for the challenge).

Paul, thank you for your comments. A DSLR is a tremendous asset here since taking the same shot with a point and shoot depends a lot more onluck. There's quite a bit of luck involved in these action shots anyhow. Think of the power that a movie producer has to order everyone to do it over and over till they gte it right.

Yep, the background seems a bit out a place since this entire secnario is taking place in a small pond and the boarders are dragged arond the course by a high wire gizmo making a speed boat unecessary.

What's really interesting are those rocks along the nearby bank. A wipeout could easily land someone in the hospital (thus the helmet?).

Nice job, Selvin. I have a tendency to look at the photos first and then read the commentary. Consequently, I was trying to figure out what the motive power for this activity was. Then I read your description...duh!

Waterboarding? Man, what are all those Gitmo detainees complaining about?! Torture, my butt - THIS LOOKS AWESOME!
