the light at Heceta Head, near Florence, OR, is one of the most photographed lights on the west coast...

Well done! The bird in flight certainly adds a very nice touch.

thanks, Selvin. i had to wait for him to fly into the frame in order to get that effect, but it was worth it. :G

Lovely post card, squril033.And, yes, the bird adds nicely to the image.

I guess I'll have to go visit. And, can see my brother at the same time! He never told me they had a lighthouse in town. I'll have to have a talk with him.

I've alwqys wanted to go up to the light. There is a keepers house just to the right of what is shown in the picture. Although there is a road that leads up there I believe it is closed to vehicular traffic. I don't know if hiking is allowed or not.

Great shot!

thanks, everyone. Cal, you're right... the keeper's house - no longer lived in, but maintained by the park service - is just off to the right. there's a road there, but you have to park in the lot down by the beach. it's about 1/4 mile hike from the lot to the lighthouse. there are also trails leading up the headland behind it, in Devil's Elbow State Park.

(for those keeping track, my "Heceta Gold" photo of sunset between two rocks was taken from the beach just below and to the right (in this photo) of the lighthouse... )

This draws the eye so nicely through the postcard. Good job!
