I was at an antique farm machinery show a couple weeks ago, and I'm attracted to the old steam tractors like "flys to honey". This fella was running a saw mill and hardly making a sound doing so. I wanted to show the motion blur so I shot at 1/25th.

Nice shot. Do you have one of the whole machine?

I do have one, but unfortunately, there is a large water tank, one of those ugly plastic ones, that obscure part of the tractor. I tried multiple angles to get a shot that would show the whole tractor but not the tank, but to no avail. I do have some shots of a couple different steamers without the clutter, I'll post them in a different thread in the appropriate section.

There are a number of those old steamers here in Oregon. Periodically, they get together, fire them up, and drive them around. They are impressive machines considering that their power to weight ratio is minuscule!
Great motion shot with some red in it. Cal |
