This is a different one for me. I put a bag of stones in a pyrex dish, poured in water til the stones were covered then I dropped in the water one of the million or two maple leafs. I then put it in the freezer until I had a coating of ice.

Nice effect, its a shame the ice has caused it to lose the sharpness of the leaf.
I admire the effort put in! |

the focus is a little distracting.your focus was lost somewhere between the ice and the leaf! I think this shot would look really cool if it had a bit of snow or freezerburn on the surface to focus on?

Great idea. A notch above the standard approach.

Bynx, your question took me to google.
here's how to get clear ice. Use filtered water. Boil water and cool, then boil it again and let it cool. freeze it. |
