Yesterday, March 1st, was Kite Day here in Huntington Beach. A special section of the beach -- just off the pier -- was reserved for "professional" kite flyers. They were amazing. The most popular among them were these double triangle type kites which allowed tremendous control. This shot shows several kites, each flown by a different individual, demonstrating what can be done.

Further down the beach was a mixture of other styles of kites. The big, octopus looking kite had to be at least 40 feet in length.

Those kites are quite inventive. I've seen the Octopus here before and was quite impressed by its dimension.

Kite flying is very popular on the Oregon Coast as well. I love the way you framed that offshore oil rig with the kite in the first shot.

Great photos. I wish it was warm enough in New Hampshire for kite flying.
