Signs of summer - low water

Garbage quality photo but interesting story. One hundred and 50 years ago erosion toppled a Lao temple on the edge of the Mekong. Over the years it kept sliding until gravity stopped tugging. Middle of the dry season comes and the water level drops enough to show the top of the temple. Better photos at images.google.com using the search terms nong khai submerged chedi

That fist sign is definitely unique for a summer changeover. What's the exchange rate? A bar for 450,000 may either be whistling in the wind or an attractive price. The one with Jamaican Jerk sauce on BBQ ribs is an even interesting one. In the middle of Thailand somewhere someone is using Jamaican cuisine to attract customers!

The submerged temple is certainly one for the books!
Aloha

About 30 Thai Baht to the US Dollar, so the price is $15,000. Undoubtedly that's a long term lease of the space plus the existing improvements.

In the foreigner bar district there is usually both Thai and foreign food. Had a decent hamburger at El Diablo.
