From the corner of 3rd St. and Broadway
Louisville, KY. 1937 Ohio River flood. The building in the foreground is the YMCA, built in 1913. In the 1960's I took swimming lessons at the indoor pool there. It has since been converted to apartments with retail and office space on the first floor. |

Another beautiful contrast. Thanks Bill. Would be nice to see an early shot without the water. I see why you took swimming lessons.

Another great combo, but where do they tie up the boats in the "today" picture? :G

Bill
Red Brick is not that common in Hawaii. The urban legend is that it is prone to failure during earthquakes. So the colorful buildings common in many mainland cities of the midwest built of brick is a very uncommon sight here. Imagine my surprise when I first visited Alexandria, Virginia and not only the buildings but also the streets. Great classic shots. |
