The are some fairly old, not great quality shots taken on the trail up Mt Sherman (14,002 ft) in Central Colorado (between Leadville and Fairplay)

Nice series. We were out that way last year and were totally amazed at the number of mines and old buildings in the high country. The fact that some of them were still in somewhat decent shape after all these years of neglect was fascinating.

It seems pretty dry out there which might explain in part why the buildings have withstood the ravages of time. In a tropical climate on an island they'd be goners for sure.
Love the second shot. |

Great series. Your use of the foreground really sets off the isolation and decay. I too have seen these in the high mountains and deserts. Do not go in!

Like the first shot with the bright red plants in the foreground.

No, it's a long Four-Mile Creek, below Mt Sherman, Mt Sheridan, and the Horseshoe.

I've seen a few mine buildings like that but I don't recall where. Great shots.

Love the pictures. There's a number of old mines out in the desert but it's gotten too hot to find them for me. Perhaps I'll explore them next fall/winter.
