This landmark is about 70 miles north of my location and is a favorite destination for photography. There is a wonderful park along the Sacramento river with nature center and botanical gardens complete with a butterfly exhibit.

Here is another view from part of the gardens. I have hundreds of shots from many different angles of this bridge and the flowers an butterflies in the gardens.

You can also use these shots if there is a challenge for musical instruments. Nice looking harp.

Yeah, I think you've posted one before many moons ago. I like the first shot with the sun partially blocked. Very nice.

I like your photos of this structure even more this time than when you posted them the first time. Normally, I don't have a reason specifically to go to Redding. I have spent the night there a couple times enroute to Sacramento or SF. Now you have given me a good reason to visit redding in the summer. I may still go on the Sacramento.
Beautiful shots. Cal |

At the top of this Google Earth picture you can see a thin curve with the shadow of the dial cast across it. (the arrow is pointing to it) This is the marked "clock" part of the sundial. The vertical mast is facing north (the top of the photo) as the sun moves across the sky the shadow moves in the opposite direction to mark out the time on the curved dial. it is about 11am in this picture. Obviously, sun dials are limited as to how many hours of the day they can show. Thanks for asking. Steve Last edited by smac; Jan 29, 2014 at 11:43 PM. |
