The metronome is definitely a timepiece as it is mechanically driven. I am not completely sure about the batonl This is a great closeup of the metronome. A slightly faster shutter speed would have stopped the pendulum completely but I suspect your shutter was synchronized to the flash. Typically, the flash sync speed is 1/60th of a second.
