This is perhaps the most interesting clock in our house. It's a jigsaw, bought me for a Christmas present a couple of years ago. I very much like the way the artist has imitated the wooden carving & beading without it being too obvious at first glance.
Completing the jigsaw was easy. Then came all the 'fun'. The instructions erroneously said it would stick together when coated all over the back with the glue provided. This failed spectacularly. So I glued it to alarge corn flakes packet. Then after much messing with washers and spacers to make the electric movement fit, the movement itself wouldn't run. I had to cannibalise bits from the many 'pound shop' ($2) clocks I keep for repairing my children's decorative china clocks, and it's still not very satisfactory. But people admire its looks. |

Interesting story, Alan, and great shots. In the US, there is an aerosol adhesive spray for preserving jigsaw puzzles. When the puzzle is complete, you protect the area around the puzzle from overspray and proceed to spray the entire (picture side) surface of the puzzle. When it dries, it is transparent and does a good job of locking the pieces together. When finished, you can slide the whole thing onto a wood or cardboard backing piece and frame it for display. You don't do anything to the back of the puzzle. I have done this once and it worked quite well.
I don't recall the name of the product but it should be available in a craft or hobby shop. Cal |

It may not run well but it sure looks nice. At first glance i did not realize it was a puzzle.

Very nice. It was fun looking at it after realizing it was really a puzzle.
