I really like the angle of the second shot. This must be alien DNA, Human DNA has a double Helix, this has a Quaduple Helix. I only mention this because I just gave my students their science final exam and it was one of the questions. Hehe, :? I need a break.

I think the extra double helix is there for support of the primary helix. If you look closely at the first photo, you can see that the blue crosslinks of the extra helix pair are connected to the red crosslinks of the other pair. It provides for artistic interest but, more important, it provides structural integrety to the sculpture.
