Diamond Head is an extinct volcanic cinder cone which used to house artillery batteries and cave filled with pill boxes in the event of an attack by the Japanese after Pearl Harbor.
It's now used as a popular hiking trail by hundreds of thousands of visitors and locals. The view from the edge of the crater is phenomenal. The entrance to the hiking trail is a tunnel bored through the crater rim. ![]() The actual tunnel ![]() |
